Best use practices

A big part of Wakati's performance depends on how you use it. Since we want you to maximize the efficiency of your unit, we've listed the 5 most important factors.

Deploy the tent in a shaded environment

Wakati does not cool, but temperature remains an important factor for preserving fruits and vegetables. So install the tent under a tree, roof or inside a shed. Inside a shed, Wakati is also protected from animals or theft. Placing Wakati in the shadow not only provides a cooler environment, it also protects the tent from UV-light, making it last longer.

Use crates

Placing your crops in baskets or crates not only makes it easy to fill or empty your Wakati unit, it also prevents crops from bruising. It also makes sure all crops are exposed to the protective micro climate inside the tent. When using stackable crates you can also maximize the volume of your unit and store more fruits and vegetables. You can use almost all crates and baskets that fit inside the tent, ideally they are perforated, ensuring a good flow inside the tent. If you can't acces any crates or baskets, you can build them yourself out of wood.

Optimise solar panel

Placing your solar panel so its well exposed to sunlight is key. Wakati recommends placing the solar panel on a roof. Not only is it well exposed to sunlight, but its less likely to get damaged by children playing around or animals. The solar panel is waterproof, just make sure the surface remains clean and unscratched, ensuring optimal functionality. By installing the Wakati on a higher place, it is also less likely to be stolen. The 10m cable allows you to connect it to the climate unit inside the tent.

Check regularly

Wakati preserves the quality of fruits and vegetables, this also means that damaged crops won't magically get better. Therefore one should perform a daily check, ensuring bad crops are removed so they cannot infect the other crops. When filling up your Wakati unit with freshly harvested produce, make sure you carefully select the crops and remove the damaged ones.

Wakati does not work with all crops. On this website you can find out which crops have been tested in Wakati. If you feel ensure about your crops, please test with small quantities before storing your entire harvest inside Wakati.
